Who we are

About us

From Humble Beginnings

Nada Family Charity was founded in honor of the late Thangapakiyam, a devoted school teacher who dedicated over 30 years of her life to educating children in Sri Lanka. Thangapakiyam’s unwavering commitment to education left an indelible mark on her students and community. After migrating to Australia, she and her husband were determined to continue their mission of preserving and sharing their rich cultural heritage. They established the first Tamil School in Australia, aimed at teaching Western-born Sri Lankans about their heritage, culture, and traditions.

The legacy of Thangapakiyam lives on through the Nada Family Charity, which embodies her spirit and dedication. The charity is committed to providing educational opportunities to children in Sri-Lanka who may not have access to the resources and advantages that many others take for granted. By focusing on those who are less fortunate, Nada Family Charity seeks to honor Thangapakiyam’s vision of making education accessible and enriching for all, ensuring that every child has the chance to learn and grow, regardless of their background or circumstances.
